PCT/EP2024/051911The present invention is comprised within the field of biotechnology and biomedicine. It specifically relates to antibodies specific against sialic acid-binding Ig-like lectin 1 (CD169/Siglec-1), as well and the uses thereof in in the treatment and prevention of enveloped virus infections. Thus, the present invention relates to medical field, particularly, to the antiviral treatment and prevention.Antigen presenting cells of myeloid lineage, such a monocytes, macrophages and dendrÃtic cells (DCs), are essential in order to combat foreign pathogens and trigger antiviral responses. The sialic acid-binding lg-like lectin 1 (CD169/Siglec-1) is a host membrane protein present on activated dendritic cells (DCs) and other myeloid cells such as monocytes and macrophages. Most enveloped virus contain sialylated gangliosides on their enveloped as they result of their formation by budding from cellular membranes. The gangliosides present in the membran of enveloped viruses are capable of interacting with CD169 thereby acting as attachment receptor of viruses such as the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV-1), the Ebola virus (EBOV) and the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2).
