Secreted splicing variant of Klotho for extending lifespan

PCT/EP2023/083906The present invention relates to approaches for extending the lifespan of organisms. Chronological age is well understood to be the single greatest risk factor for nearly every major cause of mortality and morbidity in living organisms, including humans. Even before the development of observable disease, the physiology of organ systems and tissues progressively declines throughout life. Thus, interventions to extend the lifespan -i.e. to slow the pregression of aging per se-, could delay the onset of age-related diseases and death collectively, which would be a much more efficient therapeutic approach than treating age-related disease individually.
